Get to know Emilly Sowa

by: Kara Cichon
Emily-Sowa
From: Wheeling

Hobbies: Water Polo, binge watching Netflix, and spending time with family and friends.

Favorites: I love going to concerts, Coldplay is my favorite band and I would follow them around the world if I could. I love going to see a bunch of different artists, though.

Something interesting about you: I love to cook and bake new recipes!

Where would you like to travel to: I would love to take a trip across Europe to see cities like Paris, Rome, Milan, Vienna, Budapest, etc.
What are you excited about doing with your position in the AHPD: I am excited to be at all of the swim meets! I swam competitively for years, so getting to be a part of the sport again is exciting for me!

Hidden Talent: Singing. I also played clarinet for 9 years, so that is another hidden talent.

One meal you would eat everyday: Pizza of course! There are so many different kinds, so it wouldn't be too hard, plus we live in Chicago, which obviously is the bet city for pizza.

If you could win an Olympic Medal, what would it be for: Water Polo or Gymnastics. I have played water polo for over 8 years now, so of course it has always been a dream of mine to go play in the Olympics. However, a small part of me has always wished that I was an elite gymnast going for the gold!

LAKE ARLINGTON GRAND RE-OPENING
This year Lake Arlington was transformed into an outdoor playground built for multi-generational fun.

Many amenities were added including: game tables, a new fishing pier, rhapsody instruments, fitness equipment, new paths, and more! Its popularity has grown since the launch and we are happy to see the joy it brings to the community.

OLYMPIC RENOVATION
olympic
2018 was a big year that took on a huge project! The much anticipated and exciting expansion andrenovation of the Olympic Indoor Swim Center, as it nears its 50th birthday continues! Make sure to drive past the old building and check out the great progress that has been made. Stay up-to-date by visiting the Going For Bold 2020 page on the AHPD website. The snow and extreme temperatures hampered work in January. But half of the roof joists in thenew double-gymnasium have been installed, and cold form framing work on first and second floors of the west side of the building continues. >> Follow the Progress at www.ahpd.org
